ISN – UKM SIGNED A RESEARCH COLLABORATIVE AGREEMENT

August 16, 2018, BANGI: National Sports Institute of Malaysia (NSI) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) signed a Licensing Agreement (TLA) and the Collaborative Agreement (CA) for a research project titled Dietscore ™ 2.0: Intelligent Menu Planning Malaysian Athletes and Active Individuals for Various Age Categories. The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer of NSI, YBhg. Dr. Mohd Khairi bin Zawi and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UKM’s Research and Innovation Affairs, Professor Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Toriman. The ceremony involved licensing agreement of the Dietscore 1.0 app and the awarding of the ISN research grant to researchers led by, Professor Dr. Nik Shanita Safii, senior lecturer, Faculty of Health Sciences UKM for the development of the Dietscore 2.0 app.

Dietscore 2.0 is a mobile app to assist athletes and coaches in identifying the nutritional status of athletes to achieve optimal athletic and health performance. The application development is expected to complete in 2020 and it will be beneficial not only to the athletes but also to the community. Chief Executive Officer of ISN and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UKM’s Research and Innovation Affairs hoped that this collaboration will provide positive impact for the athletes in particular and produce intellectual property that can be commercialized.

Also present at the signing ceremony was the Deputy Director of the Center for Collaborative Innovation, Professor Dr. Nazura Abdul Manap and Acting Director of Research and Education Division of ISN, Mr. Syed Faris Syed Omar.

The ceremony was officiated by ISN Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UKM Research and Innovation in Bilik Majlis Jabatan Pendaftar UKM, Bangi.
