‘Waste of time’

Former President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Tan Sri Elyas Omar disagreed with the governing body’s decision to establish a special committee to find the best solution and help retain players who failed the doping test recently.

Considers the association actions that waste of time, otherwise Elyas said, there are many mechanisms that can be made that the main body to resolve the problem.

“Why did by setting up a special committee, whether he can help the athlete?

“This is the problem of our association, if there is a problem, they will set up a committee. So how much of the special committee that we have, but no results as well.

“If there is a committee, but not accompanied by action, its not going to give a result. Everything was just wasting time,” he told Sinar Harian yesterday.

Yesterday, the Special Meeting will decide on the establishment of BAM special committee chaired by the Deputy President of BAM, Datuk Zakaria frantically for help defend players who failed doping tests.

It is understood that the establishment of these committees will be composed of 15 experts with diverse backgrounds to serve as a reference.

With a derogatory tone, Elyas said: “Many experts, but no results, ultimately futile work and neglected athlete. To me, it does not need many people to help the athlete.

“Enough with the representatives of the National Sports Institute (ISN) and one representative from BAM.

“I think in this case, BAM should consult with the athlete and asked how the incident happened and who advised him?

“Subsequently, the interrogation of people involved in it too. Just everything will quickly unfolds while we wait for the results of sample B.

“Whatever it is, it’s all BAM right to do it, just it unnecessary for me actually,” he said.
