SPECIAL BRIEFING INTRODUCTION OF NATIONAL SPORTS INSTITUTE OF MALAYSIA AS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR SPORTS TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT (R&D) IN MALAYSIA AND MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION (MOSTI) R&D FUNDING

31 JULY 2017, BUKIT JALIL – The Division of Research and Education, National Sports Institute of Malaysia (ISN) organized a special briefing on Introduction of ISN as Centre of Excellence for Sports Technology R&D in Malaysia and Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) R&D Funding.

YAB Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak has recognized ISN as the Centre of Excellence for Sports Technology R&D at National Science Council Meeting on May 2, 2017. In addition, the National Science Council agreed that ISN will be the leader and coordinator of sports technology R&D through strategic collaboration with government agencies, research institutions and industries; and ISN through KBS will be given the priority funding for sports technology R&D.

Acting Director, Division of Research and Education, Mr. Syed Faris Syed Omar has taken an initiative to introduce ISN as the Centre of Excellence for Sports Technology R&D in Malaysia.

Mr. Ellya Masriq Ahmad Sani, Principal Assistant Secretary MOSTI’s Fund Division was invited to ISN to give an overview of MOSTI’s Fund (R&D) to 60 participants consist of experts in science, technology, innovation and engineering from public and private universities.

MOSTI’s R&D Fund focuses on two (2) section, Demand Driven and Innovation Driven. Demand Driven has two (2) fund schemes namely SMART Challenge Fund and Go Fund, while Innovation Driven has three (3) fund schemes: Science Fund, Techno Fund and Inno Fund.
