Tighter global security measures recently caused a travel delay for the Malaysian shooting team, who were heading to the Shooting World Cup competition in Munich, Germany yesterday.
The booked airline had an eleventh-hour policy change in regards to the amount of ammunition that the team was allowed to bring, and this policy change was not communicated to the Podium team management. But after further negotiations with the airline, the athletes were given clearance to travel with their competition equipment.
The Podium team management has previously sent the Malaysian shooting team to several competitions overseas with the same airline without any incident, and the change in airline policy in bringing ammunition was unforeseen.
A Podium staff member will be in Germany to help the athletes focus on the competition ahead.
Munich is the venue for the ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol, which will run from 19th to 25th May 2016. The competition is a part of the performance preparation for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
