However, the question now is can Arul undertake the task while he is also the head coach of the youth team coach for the club in addition to premises which will be in action at the Malaysian Hockey League (LHM) begins later this month.
If he was in all three tasks, it must be a burden for him, thus not being able to focus entirely on the national team.
However, MHC Senior Vice President Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad, who made the announcement yesterday, said it hoped the Coaching Committee chaired by Manjit Majid Abdullah can find a solution on the issue.
“Before, we did not allow the head coach to become coach for the club team, but the Coaching Committee will discuss the issue immediately.
“I also read in the press Arul told not enough time to prepare for the youth team, so I think he will have to make a decision whether to become coaches of youth team or club,” he said.
Nur Azmi said, the search for a foreign coach is still on and so far at least there are three candidates to fill the post.
“Everything should be discussed with the NSC (National Sports Council) mainly regarding wages of coach will be appointed later,” he explained.
However, he said, according to an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), chaired by MHC president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah weeks ago, he wanted to Arul given the opportunity to lead the senior squad and then resume official duties as a youth coach.
Arul has previously given the responsibility of guiding the senior team at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
He had just finished the task with the youth team at the Sultan of Johor Cup rivals yesterday, which saw the national team finished fifth out of six teams.
