ISN Lecture Series 8/2017 has been held yesterday with the presence of about 100 participants. The program was attended by Sports Association, Athletes, Coaches, Sports Organizers, University students and ISN staff. Dr. Toshihisa Ota, Senior Researcher, Yakult Central Institute a leading investigator of the Yakult Central Institute (YCI) was the speaker at this 8th ISN Lecture Series.
Toshihisa joined Yakult Central Institute (YCI) in 1994 where he studied infectious diseases, carcinogenesis and cancer prevention. In 2003, he joined YCI’s management section to coordinate research projects including human clinical studies to evaluate the regulatory activities of probiotics on gut function, microbiota composition and the immune system. He worked in Yakult Europe between 2014 and 2016 and has been Senior Researcher of YCI and Manager of International Business Department in Yakult Honsha Japan since September 2016. He specializes in the global coordination of clinical studies and investigation of health claim regulation systems.
In this program, he has delivered a very interesting topic‘From Gut Health to Cancer Prevention – The 80 – Year Evolution of Key Probiotic Strains’. In this presentation, Toshihisa recapped on the history of this dominant strain and the accelerated evolution of probiotics since its discovery. In particular, he assess clinical evidence for the efficacy of probiotics in the prevention of common cancers, including those of the bladder, breast and colon.
At the end of the program, Dr. Yeo Wee Kian, Director of National Coaching Academy has presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Toshihisa Ota and ended with a photography session with all the participants present at this lecture.
