Malaysia Leads Regional Coaching Transformation at RCSC25.

PUTRAJAYA, 13 May 2025 – The Akademi Kejurulatihan Kebangsaan (AKK) under the Institut Sukan Negara (ISN), in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre of Excellence for Sports Coaching (ACSC), officially launched the Roundtable Convention on Sports Coaching 2025 (RCSC25) today at Zenith Hotel Putrajaya, reinforcing Malaysia’s leadership in advancing regional coaching development across ASEAN.

The convention was officiated by YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, and brought together delegates from ASEAN member states, ICCE representatives, national sports federations, and leading experts in coaching education.

“RCSC25 is not just another convention—it is a milestone moment for ASEAN’s coaching ecosystem,” said YB Hannah Yeoh in her keynote address. “We gather here today not just to learn, but to lead. Not just to share ideas, but to transform them into action.”

Held under the theme “Coaching ASEAN Forward: Unity, Structure and Excellence,” the convention aims to harmonize coaching frameworks, promote shared learning, and reinforce the strategic role of coaches in high-performance sport across Southeast Asia.

YB Hannah Yeoh emphasized the vital importance of structured and continuous coach education. She highlighted disparities across the region in coaching qualifications and development opportunities and called on ASEAN nations to establish national coaching organizations affiliated with the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE).

“Imagine the power of a united ASEAN coaching framework—one that promotes certification, shared standards, mobility, and international credibility,” she added.

Organized by AKK–ISN, RCSC25 features a series of expert-led roundtable discussions, workshops and seminars tailored to developing practical, science-based and holistic approaches to coaching. The event also serves as a regional platform to strengthen strategic ties between coaching leaders across nations.

“No matter how strong a single coach is, we are stronger together,” the Minister noted, calling for long-term collaboration and regional alignment in coach development.

In closing, YB Hannah Yeoh described RCSC25 as a pivotal initiative that not only supports athlete performance, but also raises the standard and status of the coaching profession in ASEAN.

“When we empower coaches, we empower athletes. And when we strengthen athletes, we strengthen nations,” she concluded.
