ISN Continues to Drive Creative Approaches in Sports Science
Bukit Jalil, 23 May 2025 – The National Sports Institute of Malaysia (ISN), through its PERFORM Continuous Professional Development Series, successfully conducted Biomechanics Series 04 titled “Communicating Movement with Meaning Using Dinosaur in Biomechanical Feedback for Para Athletes”.
Held at the Biomechanics Laboratory, the session was led by Yallini Selva, a Sports Biomechanics Officer at the Sports Biomechanics Center, Sports Science Branch, ISN. The presentation showcased innovative and inclusive approaches to biomechanical feedback, tailored specifically for para athletes, focusing on improving movement understanding through engaging and relatable visuals — including the creative use of dinosaur animations.
Yallini emphasized how movement-based metaphors, like animated dinosaur models, can bridge the gap in biomechanical interpretation, especially for athletes with varied cognitive and physical abilities. The approach aims to promote better internalization of movement correction cues, ultimately enhancing athletic performance and injury prevention among para athletes.

This session not only highlighted the technical advancement in motion analysis and feedback delivery but also championed inclusivity and creativity in athlete support services. Attendees included sports scientists, coaches, rehabilitation specialists, and representatives from the para sports community.
This initiative reflects ISN’s ongoing commitment to adaptive, science-based practices in line with Visi Sukan Negara 2030, driving excellence through education, innovation, and athlete-centered strategies.
