The Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sports Medicine Association of Pakistan (SMAP), marking a new chapter in regional cooperation in the field of sports medicine. The signing ceremony was held at ISN headquarters in Bukit Jalil, Malaysia.
The two-year partnership aims to strengthen, promote and develop joint efforts in sports medicine through a framework built on reciprocity and mutual benefit, in line with the laws and policies of both Malaysia and Pakistan.
The collaboration covers a wide range of technical cooperation, particularly in:
• Orthopaedics
• Research
• Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
• Sports Psychology
• Coaching
• Functional Assessment
• Biomechanics
• Sports Nutrition
To bring these goals to life, both institutions will work together through:
• Online and in-person learning exchanges
• Study visits and delegations
• Collaborative research projects
• Joint workshops and seminars
• Shared initiatives to promote best practices
• Training and development programmes for professionals.
ISN Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Vellapandian Ponnusamy said, “This MoU reflects our shared vision to push the boundaries of sports medicine in the region. By combining expertise and resources, we can enhance the quality of athlete care and performance support across both nations.”
Dr. Emad Mallick, who represented SMAP during the ceremony, added, “We are proud to partner with ISN, a respected institution in sports science, medicine & technology. & This collaboration will create opportunities for knowledge sharing and capacity building that will benefit both countries.”
