Everyone experiences stress not only because of work, but maybe also in relationship, marriage or family issue. If left unattended, it can affect the physical health. To get rid of stress, one is willing to go to the spa, go for vacations or recreations. There are actually ways that are much simpler and in fact don’t need to spend much.

 

  1. DO SOME RELAXING ROUTINE

You will surely carry out daily routine that you like, for instance take a hot bath before going to bed, listen to your favourite music or watch your favourite telemovie. So, when you are experiencing stress, do some relaxing routine till your heart and mind feels calmer.

 

  1. GET SOME FRESH AIR

Step outside in the morning to get some fresh air. Enjoy the scenery, the sound of birds, the morning aroma and morning sunshine can help the increase in serotonin. A study done by the Washington State University found out that, placing a plant on your working desk can help to reduce tension and stress.

 

  1. GET YOUR LEGS AND HANDS BUSY

Your mind just won’t stop thinking negative things. To overcome it, shift your mind to some physical activities that involve the hands, legs or other parts of your body. For example, take a photo, go up and down the stairs, cook some healthy dishes and so on. These movements will make your mind more relax.

 

  1. IMAGINE SOMEWHERE SERENE

Imagine a place that will make you feel calm. For example, a blue sea, mountains, garden and so forth. Close your eyes, focus on your breathing and imagine those places. Do it for a few minutes a day.

A survey done by University of California, Los Angeles found out that our body will secrete a little more stress hormone (cortisol) when your brain imagines of places which are beautiful and tranquil.

 

  1. BATH

Take a bath in a tub of hot water with a few drops of aromatherapy oil or scented candles can calm the mind and body. Pick the scent of lavender or jasmine for it is healthier and can relieve stress.

 

  1. EXERCISE

Exercise or physical activities can increase endorphins production that will improve your mood. This hormone regulates your sleeping rhythm, increases energy and makes you calm and focus. Pick an exercise that you like and find time away from your work routine.

 

  1. BE THANKFUL

A study from the National Institutes of Health found out that a person who feels thankful is able to increase activity of hypothalamus. Hypothalamus functions as a part that affect the stress level. You can express your thankfulness by writing it down on a piece of small paper note or thank your partner and family.

 

  1. EAT BANANA

Nutrients contain in bananas can increase the production of serotonin (lack of this hormone will make a person gets angry easily and more emotional). Take a banana for breakfast will improve the alimentary and circulatory system, thus protect the body from stress.
